I’ve given my thoughts on Hull City’s Player of the Season but there’s no doubt in my mind who the most important figure will be at the KC Stadium in the final six weeks of the season.

Steve Bruce will take on all the pressure during the run-in.

  1. Hull City boss Steve Bruce

Hull City boss Steve Bruce will soak up the pressure in the Championship run-in.

He’s been here before and knows exactly what he needs to do.

I was pleased to hear him say after the Nottingham Forest game that everyone would enjoy a few days off this weekend to recharge their batteries.

Not for the sake of the players but for Bruce himself!

I honestly don’t think the players get too weighed down by pressure at this stage of the season, but the managers are the ones who really feel the heat.

Come May 4 Bruce will be worn out.

He’ll be having the sleepless nights and kicking every ball from the sidelines.

I bet he won’t stop thinking about football until he packs for his summer holidays.

At least Bruce has been here before.

There’s a couple of managers up at the top of the Championship that this experience will be new to, but Bruce is not one of those.

With that in mind, he’ll look to take all the focus away from his players.

He’s seen Sir Alex Ferguson doing that for years on end at Manchester United.

In the meantime, Bruce will have everything crossed that his six international players come back unscathed and that everyone is fit and raring to go at Huddersfield.

Having two or three days off can benefit everyone and focus the mind before the last eight games.

It will be non-stop action from the Easter weekend onwards so it’s important to make the most of this period.

Before you know it, the end of the season will be here. Let’s hope we’re all celebrating by then.
