SHOULD striker Sone Aluko return to the Hull City side ahead of schedule as hoped, it would be a massive boost for Steve Bruce.

For me, there is no better player in the Championship than the Nigerian when he is on song, and it would be like a new signing for the Tigers to have him back.

  1. Sone Aluko at Hull City's training ground

Hull City's Sone Aluko is ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury.

Just like Ahmed Elmohamady transforms the Tigers, Aluko adds a whole new attacking edge to their game.

The suggestion is he could be back to face Blackburn at the KC Stadium later this month, and that would make him available for the last 14 games of the campaign and the promotion run-in.

Not only would it be a massive lift for City, but also his presence in the side will have a massive impact on opponents.

I know that all centre- backs will look at the City teamsheet and will get a massive lift if they see he is not playing against them.

See his name on the sheet, though, and you know you are in for a long, tough afternoon.

I can understand why City are keen to have him back as soon as possible, but they shouldn't rush him into playing.

They have missed him, but have been doing okay, and I would rather wait another week or two for a 100 per cent fit Aluko than a 70 per cent fit player, and the risk of him picking up the injury again and perhaps then missing out on the play-offs if City are in them battling to get to Wembley.

“Is it slow news week in the head of Peter Swan or something?

I'm struggling to get to grips with the fact that Swannie actually receives a payment from the HDM for writing drivel like this, talk about easy money!”
