Pioneering cancer trust launch
Cancer experts from East Yorkshire will today help launch a charitable trust which calls for a laser treatment to be used as a mainstream alternative to surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Professor Keyvan Moghissi, Clinical Director of the Yorkshire Laser Centre has teamed up with other specialists to raise awareness of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).

The treatment uses lasers to remove unwanted tissue, including tumours, without the need for invasive surgery.
Prof Keyvan Moghissi will today become chair of the UKPDT Charitable Trust when it is launched at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, where he will help present a briefing on the status and future potential of PDT in the UK.
Also speaking at the launch is Dr. Ross Boyle from the University of Hull, who has been looking at the potential of PDT to kill super-bugs.
It comes at the same time as Mike Richards, the UK Cancer Czar Professor consults on the status of PDT within the NHS at Goole hospital.
