DETECTIVES leading the investigation into missing West Ella student Russell Bohling want to speak to people who visited Bempton Cliffs last week.

The 18-year-old Bishop Burton College student, who has a speech and language disorder, has been described as vulnerable and has not been seen for more than a week.

He left his family home last Tuesday, but never reached college – despite a near-perfect attendance record.

Russell's green Renault Clio was found the next day at Bempton Cliffs, near Bridlington.

A one-day parking ticket was displayed in the vehicle.

PC Steve Norfolk said: "Anyone who visited the nature reserve on either Tuesday or Wednesday last week could hold some vital information.

"They may have seen Russell and could help the inquiry.

"No matter how small they consider the information, we would encourage them to come forward."

Russell's father, Roger Bohling, praised the police for the effort to trace his son.

He said: "Lots of young people go missing, we know that, but right from the outset the police were concerned because it is out of character.

"The police have given this top priority and we are grateful for that."

"But so far, there is no positive news to explain where the car was found or where Russell can be."

Mr Bohling said they were not giving up hope somebody would come forward with information about their son.

He said: "We have visited the car park at Bempton where Russell's car was found and it is quite a busy place.

"People who go there during the week are generally older and it would have been a bit unusual to see an 18-year-old lad there.

"His car was parked right next to the ticket machine, and somebody must have seen him."

"As a family, we are finding this very hard to take, and are appealing to people to come forward with information – no matter how small and insignificant they might think it is."

Anyone with information on Russell's whereabouts should call Humberside Police on 0845 6060222.

Police looking for another missing Bishop Burton student were today searching land in York.

In an unrelated case to Russell's disappearance, Jonathan Havron, 18, of Huntington, has not been seen for 11 days after going missing in the city on February 27.

Police divers are also continuing to search the River Foss for clues.
