A Pocklington man needed hospital treatment after he was allegedly assaulted by two men as he walked through Pocklington town centre.

Police are appealing for information after the man suffered facial injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by two men as he walked through the market place, just after midnight on Tuesday, September 16.

The 32-year-old was at the junction of Hallgate and Chapmangate when it is alleged that a white van mounted the kerb and stopped next to the victim.

Two men are then said to have jumped out of the van and assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground and assaulting him further once he was on the ground.

It is then believed another vehicle pulled up, men climbed out and continued to assault the victim.

The men then got back into their vehicles and drove off.

The victim sustained a black eye, a cut to the nose, swelling under the eye and swelling to the head.

He was treated at York District Hospital and released after treatment.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assault.
