POCKLINGTON'S triumphant Yorkshire One campaign comes to a close with a local derby at York tomorrow.

After being promoted as champions, Pocklington's season back in Yorkshire One got underway with a 23-10 home victory over York in September.

But Pocklington had some difficulties in acclimatising to life in a new division, and after eight games they found themselves back in eighth place.

However, the side then set off on a remarkable 17-game winning run that took them to the top of the table by February, then on to the championship.

With the league shield already in the bag, Pocklington can enjoy the occasion tomorrow, but the team is still keen to do well in York against its city rivals.

There is one change from the side that clinched the title last weekend, flanker Jack Holbrough returning to the back row.

The excellent support, both home and away, that the team has had throughout the season has also been a big part of the success.

And in addition to the regular team bus tomorrow, the club is putting on an extra coach for supporters and families.

The team bus will leave Percy Road at 1pm, with the supporters bus departing from the club at 1.30.

One will return from York's Clifton Park ground at 6pm, the later bus will drop off in the middle of York, then return to Pocklington from Castlegate at 9.15pm.

The Panthers have also done well, and they play in the East Riding Premier merit table play-off semi-finals at Beverley.

The Panthers' players will then join up with their first-team counterparts for the night out in York.

On Sunday Pocklington Under-15s and Under-13s are at home to Doncaster (11am) while the Under-14s and minis are on tour.
