EAST YORKS: Police are appealing for anyone who feels they may have been passed counterfeit bank notes to contact them urgently.

It follows the arrest of two men on suspicion of using fake notes in the Bridlington area at the start of this month.

On Sunday, June 3, police were called following a report of two men entering a store in Harbour Road in Bridlington and trying to buy small items with what appeared to be a fraudulent £20 note.

Officers conducted a search of the area and arrested a 35-year-old man and a 22-year-old man in connection with the alleged offence.

Both men have now been released on bail pending further inquiries.

But officers investigating the incident believe other local businesses in Bridlington and the surrounding area may also have been targeted, so they are appealing for people to come forward.

Anyone who may have information which could assist police with their inquiries should call the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 356 of June 3.
