Police appeal over graffiti in Hornsea
Police in Hornsea have appealed to residents to help them rid the town of graffiti.
In recent week there have been more than 30 incidents, on properties, signs and bins where the same tags have appeared.

Problem areas include Witty's Passage, which is to the back of Hornsea Burton Primary School, and the Greenway.
PCSO Lee Marshall said: "Over the course of February there have been quite a high number of incidents of criminal damage in Hornsea.
"A good proportion of the incidents reported are as a result of a spate of graffiti tags that are once again appearing around the town.
"The graffiti is distressing for residents and businesses and is unsightly around the town.
"There is also the cost implication of removing the graffiti."
PCSO Marshall said similar tags were also appearing in Leven, Beeford, and Beverley Road and Clough Road, in Hull.
He said: "One of the tags says EMS and the other is like a dragon, though it could be anything."
Last year there was a similar problem in the town.
Individuals were prosecuted and one person pleaded guilty at magistrates court to a number of offences and received a fine of more than £600.
PCSO Marshall said: "We had a couple of incidents early last year and towards the summer. There were a couple of people caught, one of who was heavily punished.
"We would appeal for residents with any information to let us know."
East Riding Council has been working with the police to deter and combat graffiti.
A spokesperson for the council said: "It's important that we work with the owners of sites affected by graffiti to remove it as soon as possible because it is not always council property that is targeted.
"Studies and experience have shown that, in general, a rapid response to this problem does help to solve the issue in the longer term and we have already cleaned many of the sites affected, working with the relevant sections of the council and the owners of private property."
Humberside Police are encouraging people to report new graffiti or anti-social behaviour.
Anyone with information should call police on 0845 6060222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

And the methadone quip.... yeah ok...biting. you sound like you're living in a constant rage infetsed bubble. “If you add on the cost of the new Hornsea Council Meeting room, which clrs stated would be between £500,000 to £600,000 ( over a 25 YEAR LOAN PERIOD) plus the cost of teaching Hornsea Traders and the cost of paying out to get rid of this council executive; HOW MUCH MONEY COULD WE HAVE TO ADD TO THE POLICE BUDGET!
QUOTE:
"Cabinet approves £360k retirement deal
Sue Lockwood, East Riding Council's corporate resources director, is to retire early ¿ costing taxpayers £364,205."
Ask every Hornsea councillor you see or talk to , to explain their budget ( ask if they voted in favour of this expenditure and why ) along with what they are spending our money on .”

“It will get even worse when the Council ( sorry Social) Housing is built on South Promenade and the Affordable ( sorry Council ) flats are built near Clr Miller's patch. If the Council would cancel their new meeting room, maybe the town could afford to have a better police presence? Maybe we could get officers in the town after 5pm. Maybe, we could detect more crime!
The residents need to think::::More Police and Less Crime,,,OR new Tea Room/ Shelter where our Clrs can meet, drink tea and natter.”

“Well well well, come on it`s better than hello hello hello. Is this it then Hornsea`s attempt at playing Sherlock Holmes and Mr Watson. Let me give you a clue. Go to eastgate school, bye the way thats the big building on Eastgate. And ask the teachers who is writing similar graffiti on their school books. Heh Presto now isn`t that clever. Instead of posing for pictures why don`t you lot walk down Newbegin and start giving parking tickets to all the people who park opposite Nat West to get money or go to the chemist for their methadone Oh and by the way if you do that you might even find that they haven`t got a licence or ins. How easy is that. While I`m at it
ever thought of going to the Post office to tell them all to stop using the footpath as a private car park, that is the postmen and women, and if you arn`t all mentall drained by now with the tasks you have been set, hows about stopping all the people driving using mobile phones and not wearing seatbelts. Now if you can now pull yourselves away from a darkened room wearing race horse blinkers- sorry I meant the Police Station, Maybe just maybe you could start locking a few people up. Opps sorry didn`t mean to frighten you all. Won`t be long now it`s nearly April Fools Day, you can then go on footpatrol and surprise everyone. Good job it`s only one day a year.”

“The tag saying 'EMS' is all over Hull and has become part of the city landscape. This is due to the fact that it has been left on the walls for months. Obviously 'EMS' was on a day trip to Hornsea. Maybe the caring nature of the council there could rub off on the council here and then they might remove it. But then they would be using our council tax wisely wouldn't they?”
