Police are appealing for help to unlock the "secretive life" of a missing East Yorkshire teenager.

Information not already known about 18-year-old Russell Bohling could give officers vital clues to help trace him.

Chief Superintendent Paul Davison, East Riding divisional commander, made the appeal at a press conference in Beverley yesterday.

It is now more than two weeks since Bishop Burton College student Russell, of West Ella, near Kirk Ella, vanished.

Chief Supt Davison said: "Russell is a secretive young lad, as 18-year-olds can be, and does not tell his parents about all his movements.

"He attended college and could have formed new relationships, and there is a possibility somebody could be with him."

Police want to know where Russell was on Saturday, February 27, between 4.35pm and 9.30pm, when he left home in his car and returned without letting his parents known where he had been.

His car's sat nav revealed he had previously travelled to Bradford, York and Bridlington, and police are checking addresses at those destinations.

Chief Supt Davison said: "It is possible that Russell committed suicide or had an accident at Bempton Cliffs, but I would have expected to have found a body by now.

"He has grown in confidence over the past year, passed his driving test and was doing well at college, so had everything to live for."

He added "I want Russell to contact the police in confidence and let us know he is safe and well.

"I would also urge anyone who may be in contact with him, or knows his whereabouts, to contact the police."

Call the police on 0845 6060222.

“This is the 2nd young man to go missing in York? We've had 4 go missing in the mid-west here in the US. One of them was found in the Mississippi River. This has been going on for years now, with the victim going to the bars and then getting tossed out onto the street where they go missing and then end up in some body of water. This almost always happens in the fall, winter or early spring when no one wants to go near the water. People are calling this the smiley face killers due to alleged smiley faces spray painted near the locations the bodies are found. Jonathan Lacina went missing in Ames, Iowa on January 22, 2010. Jonathan Havron went missing on February 26, 2010. Finally, Jonathan Dorey went missing on March 2, 2010 in Richmond, Virginia. Jonathan Dorey is from Guernsey, UK. Neither Jonathan Lacina or Jonathan Dorey has been located yet. Stay vigilant and keep track of the young men that go missing in your area. There could be something larger going on in your area.”
