BRIDLINGTON: Extra police have been drafted into the town to target the ten most prolific criminals.

Six officers have been sent to work in Bridlington alongside Inspector Grant Taylor to focus on the top ten offenders in the town.

Police believe they are responsible for a large proportion of drug-dealing, violence, theft and antisocial behaviour.

The Humberside Police CCTV van is also being used in the town to reduce crime and target offenders.

Inspector Grant Taylor, who heads up neighbourhood policing in the town, said the van will be placed in key locations in the town 24 hours a day.

He said: "This a fantastic piece of equipment to use in the Bridlington area as it not only has the ability to record crime and catch criminals in the act, but it can also act as a deterrent putting people off committing crimes."

“I hear that these type of people are regularly 'shipped in', and that there are even signs in city job centres / prisons encouraging people to move to the seaside! Well if this is the case keep them where they are, we have our fair share. I used to live in a lovely, quiet seaside town. It is now has paranoid looking druggies & some ignorant old people, who think they don't have to say thank you when we stand aside for them or open doors!! The only good, positive thing about it is the younger generations coming up.”

“Well they will have plenty to choose from. Every other Hull Crown Court case seems to originate in Brid.

Or maybe the police there are just good at solving crime?”

As usual, most of the 'real' crimes are committed by a few villains.”

“I used to drive a lot around the Bridlington area and can confirm in nearly 12 months I never saw one officer with a speed gun trying to catch the unwary. Well done to the Bridlington cops as this shows that you are really concentrating on important police matters such as catching criminals.”
