Hull East MP John Prescott seems to have caught the blogging bug.

The newly cyber-savvy MP has joined in on a new Internet craze – telling virtual friends 25 "random" things about yourself – via his online diary.

Mr Prescott has divulged that he does now own two Jaguar cars and why he hit out at a protestor in the egg-throwing incident during the 2001 election campaign.

He started the list stating his favourite film is Billy Elliot, about a working-class boy who struggles to become a ballet dancer.

"I have seen it more than six times and it's the only film that's made me cry," he confessed.

Referring to his "two Jags" nickname, he explained: "For the first time in my life I now own two Jags. I bought them both second-hand on the Internet and the most I've ever paid for a car is £4,500."

He also said he thought he had been stabbed when he punched an egg-wielding protester in Rhyl, north Wales in 2001.

"When someone threw the egg at me, I thought I'd been stabbed and that I was bleeding. It was actually egg yolk," he wrote.

At number 23 on his list is something about his wife.

He said: "Pauline claims she's better at croquet than me. I beg to differ."

Mr Prescott caused a furore when, as the deputy prime minister, he was photographed playing croquet at a country mansion, having been left in charge of the country in Tony Blair's absence.

The 70-year-old – well-known as a fan Mr Chu China Palace restaurant in west Hull – also listed Chinese as his favourite food and said he once bought Blair a singing fish to cheer him up.

He is among millions of users of social networking website Facebook who have succumbed to the new Internet craze of revealing their habits or quirks, from the touching to the trivial.

The modern version of the chain letter is then posted and the person "tags" 25 of their friends to do the same.

Mr Prescott has said he will be standing down at the next election after 40 years as an MP.

“I bet he cries even more that he STILL hasn't taken his over sized seat in the Lords. I wonder when he will start whining about "not fitting in" and that he is "too working class" etc for the lords.”

“The people who knock John Prescott must be in the minority otherwise he would not have had a majority vote or become Briain`s longest serving deputy prime minister.”
