THE city council's budget meeting was adjourned at 5.25pm after protesters refused to leave the public gallery.

Lord Mayor Councillor David Gemmell, chairing the meeting, called for the gallery to be cleared after protesters refused to leave following interruptions to the debate.

At one point, a slow hand clap broke out from the public gallery while at least two members of the public started shouting at councillors and refused to be quiet.

Earlier, Councillor Gemmell had asked people to stop using cameras in the gallery, and had requested silence during further interruptions.
