Pubs ban for Hull teen who tried to smash shop windows
A TEENAGER has been banned from city centre pubs after being caught trying to smash the windows of several shops.
Michael Pearson, 19, has been given a three-month drink banning order (DBO).

Three-month order: Michael Pearson, 19, of Hull, has been given a drink banning order.
Pearson appeared at Hull Magistrates' Court this week to plead guilty to three counts of criminal damage.
He was spotted kicking shop windows along Whitefriargate in the city centre in the early hours of Monday, January 16.
PC Keith Lamplough said: "I am grateful to the court for imposing this order as his behaviour was totally unacceptable – it was needless.
"Should he have succeeded in actually breaking the windows, it would have incurred large costs and inconvenience to the businesses involved.
"In these already austere times, it is simply not fair.
"People and property need safeguarding against behaviour like this.
"I hope Pearson takes time to consider his actions and also his future conduct when under the influence of alcohol."
Pearson, of Saltshouse Road, east Hull, was also given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £60 costs and a £15 victims' surcharge.
The order prohibits him from entering pubs, clubs, restaurants, off-licences and supermarkets, having alcohol in the street and even entering the city centre if he has been drinking.
It covers Hull's Safer Entertainment Zone, which includes the city centre, parts of Anlaby Road, Witham, Spring Bank and the Marina, from Thursday to Sunday from 7pm to 7am.
PC Lamplough said: "Should there be any repetition, I will be seriously considering a further application with a view to having the duration lengthened."
The DBOs see anyone caught three times for alcohol-related crimes charged and sent to court. Once in front of magistrates, the police apply for one of the orders.
If breached, the offender can be fined up to £2,500.

“If he is banned from any establishment for drinking and eating... including supermarkets.... how is the poor kid supposed to feed himself? I mean he shouldn't be kicking windows granted... however drunk! But I have an idea that HDM publishing his photo, full name and address has made pretty certain his life will be tainted for a long time just from his little teenage drunken night out. Not one person on here can say they haven't been guilty of a stupid night out when they were that age. All I say is, no damage done... Police punishments have gone mad..”

“Perhaps if he had managed to break one of the windows, a shard of glass may have pierced a main artery in his leg and the problem would not reoccur.”

“I feel quite bad for the lad, if the 3 criminal damages were on the same night it just sounds like an evening of madness, which I'm sure most people have suffered from themselves at some point in their lives...I suppose though in one sense he won't do it again [for 3 months].”

“Joeham, 3 mistakes, he should have learnt by now! Hopefully the DBO will give him time to reflect on his behaviour in drink”

“If you behave like a moron when you have been drinking alcohol I suggest you should probably not drink alcohol”

“This may or may not be the case here, but alcohol makes us do things we would not normally do. I'm sure most of us have done something when drunk at some point that we felt ashamed about (even if it was not as extreme as smashing up a shop).
Perhaps the lesson for Mr Pearson is that he should not drink, some can handle it some can't, it's just the way it is.
Or Mr Pearson is a bit of a thug when sober anyway, I have no way of knowing. Either way; drink less is my message to him.”
