QPR's DJ Campbell 'final piece of Hull City jigsaw' says ex-Tiger Ben Burgess
FORMER Hull City striker Ben Burgess believes DJ Campbell can score the goals to secure the Tigers a second promotion to the Premier League.
Burgess played with Campbell at Blackpool when they were promoted to the Premier League and knows the current Ipswich striker has the game to help City achieve promotion.
Believing Campbell can be the final piece of the jigsaw for Steve Bruce, Burgess told the Mail: "DJ scores goals. It's as simple as that. He is good enough to score 20 goals a season.
"He has already scored 10 for Ipswich this season and averages a goal every other game. He would be perfect for Hull City.

"I watched their game against Blackpool and thought they needed a striker like DJ.
"If City were to sign DJ it would be fantastic because he can win games in an instant.
"If he was to ask my opinion, I'd tell him to sign for Hull City in a heartbeat.
"I loved my time there and realised just how big a club it really is with fantastic support."
Not only does Burgess believe Campbell can score the goals to get them into the Premier League for a second time, he also thinks he will score the goals to keep them there too.
He boasts 43 Premier League games for Blackpool and QPR, where he hasn't featured as much as he would have liked, but Burgess feels Campbell can play in any role, with someone alongside him or on his own up front.
"DJ is not just a goalscorer, he has a good all-round game," he added.
"He can hold the ball up very well and bring other players into the game.
"He can easily play with a big target man up with him or he can play as a lone striker.
"He has the added experience of winning promotion from the Championship too and has proved he can score goals in the top flight.
"Besides his qualities as a player, he is the sort of person you want in the changing rooms because everyone likes him."

“Hope DJ agrees to come - not so sure about Gedo.
He's never played outside of North Africa - Yorkshire in February might be a physical as well as a culture shock. Could make Geovanni look like a polar bear.”

“Not directed at a big B Billy, just a silly little b billy, as the old saying goes! ;)
My mate, The Sphinx, reckons the lad has sensitive gonads and would be better off waiting for a summer move; although if we have a freakish March like last year, he might be the difference in the final 8 weeks. I can' be sure on The Sphinx's source as he's a tad inscrutable, that one!
Our big plan has to be to get the DJ in to do a bit of mixing! Next week. DJ and Elmo, Gedo probably in the summer when we have released some out of contracts (no shortage of them)”

“fez_2,not quite sure how I have opened the Lunatics' Asylum as you seem to suggest.I just post things, with greater regularity than my long-term partner would like, and I drive HER a bit insane with that, but anyone who can be 'incensed' by anything I,Silly Billy posts, really needs to take a break from the triviality that is Blog World, and open the curtains, just to check whether it's night or day.I don't post to antagonise, only to engage with the passion that being a football fan entails.
Being an Egyptophile, fez, any news on Gedo?”

“Now then, who was the silly- billy who gave them there lunatics the keys?
DJ is a great signing (always the real target) and Elmo back next week. NP has been scoring goals from open play, so he will continue to improve, whereas Simpson misses most things, but we all know he could hit a purple patch at anytime. Aluko back in 3 weeks.
Auto is very possible and fantastic if achieved, but top 6 was always the target. Keep the faith and ignore the lunatics.
I am trying, Strummer, but I can feel the alter-ego fighting to return ;)”

“We all share misgivings about Nick Proschwitz, and while some would like to see him given a run of games there are plenty who fear he's not going to be the target man we hoped for when we recruited him, including presumably Steve Bruce, who must also have seen enough of Jay Simpson to know he doesn't look like he has the poise and self-belief in front of goal that we need.
Steve Bruce remains massively in credit for giving players like Simpson a decent chance, and for all his loan and transfer moves BAR Nick Proschwitz,as of now at least.Let's hope we turn into February with happy news on he transfer front. We are not out of a top 2 spot by any means, even if the bookies and plenty on here think we're overachieving.Well, keep on overachieving City, not often we've done that!”

“At last another poster who has removed the rose tinted glasses. We've waved goodbye to top two, playoffs at best awaits us. A new manager of sufficient quality (Adkins) might just give us the boost we need at the right time. We left it too late to appoint Dowie, let's not make the same mistake twice.”
