Queens Gardens plans to be discussed by Hull councillors
Ambitious long-term plans to revamp Hull's Queens Gardens will be discussed by city councillors today.
The city centre park has not seen any major improvement work since the 1950s.
Ideas for a facelift range from creating a new entrance off Queens Dock Avenue to closing Wilberforce Drive to through traffic and extending the gardens towards Hull College.

“queens gardens does need upgrading, its mainly covered in shrubs and trees,it all needs opening up,so it can be seen by visitors, who probably don't know these gardens are there, the gardens need a large grand easy access entrance from the BBC building end, these gardens are a very pleasant green oasis, but do need upgrading, less clutter also for concerts held there in the summer.
also queen Victoria square could be grassed and landscaped,to make it a more pleasant area,at the moment, its a horrible paved area, covered in chewing gum,as is most of the city centre.
people have to look at the big picture, the council should spend more money on the infrastructure of the fairly drab city centre, this will encourage private investment,in the city centre, which in the long run, helps hulls economy.”
