Radar set to scupper Nafferton wind turbine plan
NAFFERTON: Plans for a wind turbine at a village farm look set to be rejected because it would cause unacceptable interference to a Ministry of Defence (MoD) radar.
The scheme, for land north west of Grange Farm, Wold Road, has also prompted objections from half-a-dozen nearby residents.
Objectors claim wind turbine developments are destroying the Yorkshire Wolds but two letters of support have also been submitted by residents living nearby.
East Riding Council's planning committee will be advised to refuse planning permission.

In a report to go before the committee on Thursday, planners say the principle of installing a wind turbine at the location is considered acceptable but it would create unacceptable levels of interference to the MoD radar in Staxton Wold.

“Its called cumulative impact on radar defences. Just look at the turbines multiplying all around Nafferton Wold and you will see how worried the MOD now is -on Turbine Invasion out of control in parts of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The farmers don't need these oversized montrosities to power their farms- just to gather in the wind farm subsidy crop. And don't believe they will power any homes in the Driffield area -just push up your energy bills through renewable energy taxes.
And its not just farmers -Eastfield Garden Centre in Bridlington have just erected the first of two 34 metre turbines with the second to follow in an even more intrusive higher location.
To cut its carbon emissions -yet it gets its supplies of plants from Holland and all the carbon that uses up.I know where I will be gardening at - Reighton Nurseries -they grow their own,are half as cheap and they don't want a Turbine..as far as I know.....”

“Dismantle the radar - a complete waste of taxpayers money. A monument to this nation's paranoia.
While were at it lets dismantle the armed forces... ...peace.... ...truly in our time... ...at last.”

“There is a huge wind turbine at Nafferton Wold already, why doesn't that one cause interference. Could it be owned by an ERYC councillor by any chance?”

“What is the nature of the interference to MoD radar?
Is it related to the Russian Tupolev TU95 bomber, that regularly approach UK airspace having propellers?
Quite interesting.”

“Before signing any petition I would advise you to fully inform yourself on this subject. Objecting without doing so means that most objections are based on ignorance. An opinion based on ignorance is not an opinion.
If you are told they are inefficient; this is incorrect.
if you are told they are expensive; this is incorrect.
If you are told that wind (onshore) doesn't contribute to national power; find out the data for 2011-2012, also compare its growth over the last decade and the projections for the future.
If you are told they produce little energy; this is incorrect. Perhaps, find out how much a single, modern, typical on shore wind turbine produces annually on an average wind speed site.
If you are told they put up your energy bills, find out how much wholesale gas prices put up your energy bills in comparison and are forecast to do so in the future. As well as the fact that if we can bring down the cost of gas, it is likely that your household energy bill will also go down significantly, irrespective of renewables investment.
If you are told they are ugly, remember this is subjective.
If you are told they are noisy, get permission to go to a modern site yourself and find out.
If you are told they ruin the countryside, remember not everyone thinks so.
Read the facts yourself, consider the alternatives. by all means be anti-wind but please read the facts first, not from newspapers or agents. Please read, peer reviewed papers. on the subject that deal with the facts and address the arguments sufficiently.
Once you have done so, then make a decision.”

“As applicants can appeal to the Government to reverse local decisions we need to get it onside, as well as councils and others, if we are going to stop these wind turbines being built.
Are you disillusioned by rising electricity prices, over dependence on the "green" dream [especially uneconomical and inefficient wind farms] and the destruction of our countryside then please object to the Government at

or by GOOGLING "E-PETITION 22958" and following the link.
Please pass this message on to Councillors, friends, neighbours and anyone else you know to persuade them to sign up too. If you are really concerned about wind turbines please write a letter promoting this petition to your local Newsletter and to the Editors of your local newspapers.”
