Rain sinks Minerva pub's fish and chips fundraiser
A PUB landlord is vowing serve 300 portions of fish and chips in a summer fundraiser, after his first attempt proved a washout.
Phil Daly, landlord at the Minerva, in Hull's Nelson Street, was asking customers to donate to Cash For Kids instead of paying for the meal.

"We did have a few new customers and we still did raise some money for the excellent charity."
The pub has held several quiz nights for the charity, which supports thousands of children who have special needs, are disabled, have life-limiting illnesses, have been abused or neglected or simply need a little extra care and guidance.
Every penny raised stays in the region.
Mr Daly said: "We are going to repeat the fish and chips fundraiser but will wait until the middle of summer when the weather should be better."
Among the visitors to Hull Marina was Maureen Frances, who lives nearby.
She visited the pub with her daughter Julie Bottomley.
Maureen said: "It is a smashing pub and it was a great idea to organise this event for an excellent charity.
"It was also a good excuse to have some superb fish and chips.
"The diet was off for me on Saturday."
