RESIDENTS in Bransholme have been warned about the threat of loan sharks after the summer holidays.

Money advisers attended the North Bransholme beach party held at the community centre in Lothian Way to warn people about the dangers.

The steps come on the back of a survey conducted by Morrisons that revealed parents face debts of up to £500 when the holidays finish.

Reasons for the debt include increased spending on food and entertainment.

Julie Riseborough, Riverside's head of performance and community engagement, said: "Summer holidays should be something for families to look forward to, a chance to spend quality time together, but it is easy for parents to fall into the trap of spending a fortune to entertain their children."

Bransholme residents are being asked to contact Riverside if they are interested in becoming a money adviser. For more details, visit www. direct.gov.uk
