Reverend Matt Martinson, armed robber who turned to church, to tell story at Hull's Mission Pub
HULL: A convicted criminal who turned his life after being jailed for robbing a post office at gunpoint will tell his story at Holy Trinity's new Full service at The Mission Pub on Sunday.
The Reverend Matt Martinson, 36, left school with no qualifications, took drugs, drank heavily and was forced to live on the streets to escape an abusive father.
But, after giving up a life of crime, he was ordained a priest two years ago by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, and ministers at St Nicholas Church, Beverley. Rev Martinson has also recently been confined to a wheelchair due to spinal and pelvic problems.
Rev Matt Woodcock, who leads the Full service, said: "Matt's story is quite incredible and is not to be missed. He shows that no matter how bad things get in life, there is always hope to be found in God."
Full starts at 4pm and parking is available in Holy Trinity's car park. The pub itself will be calling last orders at 2.30pm.
