Our review of the most read stories on the site this year concludes with a look at the news from September to December
1 A man who left a woman scarred for life after glassing her in the face for asking if he had bought his t-shirt at TK Maxx was jailed for 15-months in October.
Sign-maker Michael Bettney, of Alliance Avenue, west Hull, hit out at Rachel Adshead, 23, in Fusion bar, Cottingham Road, last Christmas. He claimed he did not know he was holding a glass at the time. Miss Adshead needed 14 stitches in her face.
The story was among the most read of the year, attracting many comments, including condemnation from many site users, who claimed Bettney was "cowardly" to attack a woman.

2 Ghostly happenings at the Manchester Arms attracted huge interest - despite scepticism about the "CCTV footage" among commentators.
Landlady Lisa Fowler, who told how cheeky "spirit" Beryl flickers lights, turns off machines, plays with hair and causes floods, claimed she had even captured Beryl on CCTV. Other viewers, however, were unable to make out the image, which Lisa claimed showed Beryl in a fur collar looking down the bar.
3 A mum-of-three had sex with a schoolboy and his brother - but avoided jail - in October.
Claire Louise Roundill, 32, of Anlaby, who also supplied the 15-year-old boy with cannabis and sent him naked photographs of herself before driving him to Hessle Foreshore to have sex, was given a suspended sentence.
Roundill, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child, supplying cannabis and possession of the drug, admitted she was also having sex with the boy's 17-year-old brother and had undergone an abortion. She did not know which of the boys was the father.
4 Sex shop workers were caught on camera stealing hundreds of pounds worth of sex toys from Pulse and Cocktails in Hull.
The shop manager filmed Julie Preston, 42, and Rachael Greensides, 27, stealing sex toys, outfits and cash for two weeks before confronting the pair, who admitted the theft after being shown the CCTV footage.
Magistrates gave both women 12-month community orders and ordered them to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the community.
The salacious nature of the goods no doubt helped the crime to one of the most-read items of the year
5 Cage fighter Marcus Da Silva was convicted of a sex attack on a former student he imprisoned in her own home at knifepoint.
The Brazilian martial arts expert, who held classes throughout the region, grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to "cut her face up" before subjecting her to horrifying physical and sexual abuse.
The woman only escaped after he took her to hospital for treatment for her injuries.
