The era of the New York huckster – all sharp-suits and wisecracks – has been brought to the stage with a real swagger by Hessle Theatre Company.
Guys And Dolls, directed and choreographed by Martin Beaumont, follows the intertwin- ing story of a Save-A- Soul Mission and a group of hoodlums.
Backed by a live band and staged on an ornate, cityscape set, it conveys the bustle of the streets.
Alongside some magnificent set pieces with echoes of the great MGM musicals, there are some outstanding turns.

Chris Holmes is wonderful as Nathan Detroit, the nervy hustler who is forever on the make, but for whom the big prize always seems just out of reach.
Chris's performance proves the touchstone for the show. While Nathan's intentions might be less than honourable he has the warmth lacking in all the holy rollers and the sharp-eyed hoodlums he finds himself amongst.
