Roadworks set to cause 10-week disruption in Hull

A ten-week programme of repairs to Hull's Bankside is under way.

Hull City Council is advising businesses and motorists that parts of Bankside will be closed to through traffic and a temporary traffic light system will be in place.

It advises residents and motorists to plan alternative routes where possible for the duration of the works.

Councillor Martin Mancey, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: "These are essential and necessary works to renew the surface to this very busy road.

To minimise disruption to businesses, motorists and residents during peak times, full road closures will be scheduled for evenings and weekends.

    as a resident of the area, i can tell you that the traffic is murder during rush hour... especially in the evening... this is a very common cut through.... go down it at rush hour then you will see how bad and busy it is..

    This road has needed doing for a long long time... I feel it is only because of the new police station(clough road) in the area that it is getting done now....”
