Road works caused Withernsea gas leak
FAMILIES in Withernsea have been told a road maintenance vehicle damaged a pipe that led to a gas leak in the town.
Residents from about 20 properties were let back into their homes at 11.30pm last (Monday) night after being forced to leave.
The low pressure gas main in Queen Street was damaged during road works on Monday afternoon.
Northern Gas Networks said the 39-tonne road planer got stuck and had to be hoisted clear before repairs could be carried out.
