WEST HULL: Opposition Lib Dem councillors claim proposals to close a city library are politically motivated.

The city council's Labour leaders want to close Anlaby Park Library as part of their budget plans.

The library is in the Lib Dem-held Boothferry ward.

Lib Dem Councillor Karen Woods said visitor figures showed the library was one of the most popular in Hull for its size.
