Hull KR: Sandercock to leave it late before deciding Greg Eden's fate
HULL KR coach Craig Sandercock will give full-back Greg Eden until tomorrow morning to prove he is fit to face Catalans on Sunday.
Eden suffered a hamstring injury in the Hull friendly derby and is rated as 'doubtful' for the season opener.

Craig Sandercock is uncertain about who will make his final Hull KR side this weekend.
Sandercock hasn't ruled his full-back out just yet, but admits his new signing could face a spell on the sidelines.
"We'll make a decision on Greg on Saturday morning," Sandercock told the Mail.

"We need to weigh up what is best for Greg's long-term hopes of playing for us this season against the risk of a short-term recovery.
"We are playing that on a day-by-day basis and I'd say he's 50/50 to play at present, but I'll talk to the medical staff first and make a decision the day before the game.
"It's hard to know how many games Greg will miss if he misses this weekend.
"It will be a big blow if he misses out because he has trained so well in pre-season and he has come along leaps and bounds.
"He played really well against Hull in the friendly and to lose him would be a disappointment.
"We do have a few alternative options, including Sam Latus, but we'll get this week over with and we'll have a look at it then."
With his two first choice centres out injured, Sandercock has to decide who will replace Kris Welham and Sean Gleeson.
Gleeson has a back injury while Welham broke his hand in the 28-18 derby win at the KC Stadium.
Sandercock has opted to give Liam Salter the right centre spot with new signing Omari Caro starting outside him on the wing, but he is undecided when it comes to the opposite side.
"Liam will play," he explained. "At this stage he has done enough in the friendlies to impress me.
"Omari has also done enough to play against Catalan.
"I have a couple of options for the left hand side with Chris Heil and Graeme Horne in the running."

“I would personally go with:
1. Hall
2. Caro
3. Salter
4. Heil
5. Hodgson
6. Withers
7. Dobson
8. Tui
9. Hodgson
10. Walker
11. Mika
12. Patterson
13. Lovergrove
Bench - Paea, Horne, Griffin, Cox
No need for another hooker as Hodgson can do the 80. Need as heavy a bench as possible to counter the big Catalan pack.”

“What does Slime Slammer's comment have to do with this article?
On topic, despite the good performances of Eden so far I would rather not risk him playing and possibly having to miss more games by making the injury worse.”

“bungle, I agree with you. My 17 would be:
Hall;
Caro, Salter, Heil, D Hodgson;
Withers, Dobson;
Tui, J Hodgson, Walker;
Mika, Paterson;
Griffin.
Bench: Carlile, Paea, Lovegrove and Cox
But like I said earlier I think CS will opt for Graeme Horne instead of Chris Heil to counter the threat of Taia.
Albaz, you are 100% spot-on. Its too early to take risks - as you say, foresight should dictate the policy.”

“A last minute fitness test on a hamstring injury before the first game of the season is too stupid for words.Eden should definitely not be selected and no player should be having such a fitness test before the season has started.
Hopefully,we won't see him run out with his thigh strapped and either fail to finish the game or worse,miss the next three or four matches.IF this happens lets have no rubbish about hindsight.
Foresight says he shouldn't play.”

“The whole situation just seems to be a bit contradictory - on the one hand he might be fit to play, but on the other he might miss out and there's no telling how long he'll be out for. Either way, it seems obvious to me that you don't play him. If he misses the first 3/4 games then so be it, that's sport for you. It wouldn't surprise me if this article is nothing more than a ploy to keep Catalans guessing.
In terms of centres, I don't think Horne did too bad of a job when he deputised in the centre last year and you know what you'll get with him, however I stand by my comment in a previous article, such being to give Heil a shot as in weather like this he might be less exposed in terms of decision making in defence and will gain confidence from just being out there. I've no doubt that we'll come to rely on him again later in this season so give him his shot now.
Generally speaking, the lack of experienced centres and full back will place greater emphasis on Dobson and Hall but with Mika and Patterson outside of them they still have the fire power to score enough points to win the game. Scoring points was never really an issue last year - the main issue will obviously be defence. Get this right and we can take 2 points.”
