HULL KR coach Craig Sandercock has challenged his side to maintain the defensive standards they set in their shock 26-12 win over Warrington.

Sandercock was full of praise for his players after they produced their best display this season to inflict Warrington's first defeat.

Rovers limited the Wolves to just two tries, and kept the visitors scoreless for the final 49 minutes.

And it was those factors which pleased Sandercock the most.

"If we want to win games and be competitive, then we need to do that consistently," he said.

"Keeping Warrington to two tries gives belief to the boys in the systems and structures that we have in place. We work hard on them.

"Good sides perform like this every week like Warrington and Leeds. That's why Warrington are the benchmark.

"It's heartening and showed the boys had the heart and desire to defend. Full credit goes to the players."

Sandercock needed the win to ease the pressure on him after a disappointing run of result which had brought just two wins in their last 14 games.

The coach refused to be too upbeat afterwards, but pointed to the debut of Travis Burns as being a significant factor in their victory, as well as praising fellow debutant Alex Brown, who grabbed a late try.

"We're not getting carried away by this result, Warrington had quite a few players out and that stifled their attack," he said.

"The boys played well after getting an even share of the play and penalties.

"We did some little things well and I was impressed with the whole display in attack and defence.

"Travis did well given it was his first run since July.

"He brought positivity, communication, competitiveness and determination, which is what I wanted.

"Alex also went well but, like all our kids, he has a lot to learn and he showed he has a lot of potential."

“we will always be in the shadow sorry are you drinking with adam and brett, kr maybe behind fc financially but we pay our own way we started to argue about the north stand due to the wrong paint on the cladding and poor way we have being treated by certain council officals who seem to be pro east hull and like when neil put in the mail that due to the delays due to very bad management of this project it has cost hull kr a potential loss off 750k to 1 million quid and how do the council respond we don't run the club if they are in debt it ain't our fault, did he state we were in debt in the article no it was a dig at kr, and the attitude is be grateful you are getting this for free when in fact has neil as stated kr have to pay 60k to rent the seats for 13 games we get to use them office blocks on match days, but fc pay has little as 30k, also kr would be well ahead of you fc if we had a great guy in mr Allam who pays for your stewards and policing and bars and even buys 140k worth of season passes to make sure you sell some. if i was him i would stop doing it also if i recall did allam say the million he gave to kr was a gift stating that fc flourish from him at the kc and kr and the east of the city gets left behind that is why he did it, so please get over yourself at the end of the day kr will be ok, and so will fc oh wait i did hear today mr larvin still wants to invest in kr but if i was kr i would sooner have sean gleesons parents invest in the club i know its drug money but atleast it is real”

“Now the Euphoria has settled a little yes a very well deserved win yesterday
As one of a very few people who has actually stated several times on HKR threads that given time Sandercock will make a good coach, maybe some of you HKR regulars on here who continually criticised and berated him may feel a little embarrassed”
