The Saturdays and Alesha Dixon added to Freedom Festival
Two more top pop acts have been added to this year's Freedom Festival line-up.
The Saturdays, a girlband currently enjoying huge chart success, and R'n'B singer Alesha Dixon will both return to the event after performing in front of hundreds of screaming fans last year.

“Martin that is a stupid assumption. Where does it say the Freedom Festival is just got "grown ups"?
I am taking my 10 year old nephew with me as we both like McFly :) and I am not a chav spending my benefits!”

“Kings of Leon 200k ?? Jay-z did a hours work in the north not so long ago for 22k. And Jay-z a bigger star than Kings of Leon.
Why not bring in a top DJ ?? plus, why we got children bands playing, when that weekend will be full of drunks. Unless the chav parents are dragging the kids along to spend their benefit now ?.”

“Kings of Leon are a huge band, possibly one of the biggest around at this moment in time. They have recently played their own headlining gig at Hyde Park in front of 50,000 people. The Freedom Festival simply doesn't have the infrastructure to support such a band like this to play, nor the cash... I'd expect £200,000 + for them to play. (this is a total guess, I'd probably expect a bit more actually). They are also on tour in America whilst this festival is on.
Claire, if you think that Alesha Dixon, as a draw, is anywhere near the size of a band as big as Kings of Leon then you are massively mistaken.
As mentioned, Foals are headlining, lets call it, the music stage (not to discredit the pop stage, they have some big bands on this year). Foals have had 2 top ten albums in the UK as well as a Mercury Music Prize nomination, so good work as far as I'm concerned.
There will also be plenty of local music on, which is of very high talent, so don't be so narrow minded, go and listen to some of this and you never know you may like it, and as a result go out and support these bands in and around Hull.
Its also been announced that at 'Fruit' on the Friday night is a Beverley Folk Festival night, with some really good local folk bands playing, that is free before 9pm, so listen to that.”
