Sea cadets group is a credit to the city
Iwould like to make use of your readers' letters page to thank the team at Hull Sea Cadets TS Iron Duke in Argyle Street
With my co-author Andrew Hemmings, we have just had our latest book From Lancashire To Yorkshire By Canal In The 1950s published.
-

PROUD: David Swidenbank and Andrew Hemmings with cadets at the book launch.
The book follows a group of sea cadets on their canal journey from Lytham to Hull in 1958, ending with both cadet units from Lytham and Hull parading at the old Hull HQ in West Parade – now part of the infirmary.
It was therefore fitting that Andrew and I travelled from our homes in South Wales last week and held a book launch and talk at Iron Duke.

The welcome we received was second to none and I would like to draw particular attention to the party of cadets who acted as hosts.
They are a credit to not only the hard work of the volunteer management team at Iron Duke but to the city of Hull.
All too often these days we hear so many negative stories about young people, at Iron Duke you have a very positive group of young people that all of Hull can take pride in.
Well done and thanks to all those involved.
David Swidenbank.
