Secret to a good scarecrow is a pair of tights!
ACCORDING to festival organiser Daphne Alexander, tights filled with straw are the secret of a good scarecrow.
"You use two pairs of tights, one for the body and one for the head and arms," she said. "You've got to make sure you pack them really firmly with straw and use a stake driven firmly into the ground."
She said the trick is to take the plunge and get started quickly.
"People sometimes wonder how on earth they should do it," she said. "But once you get started it's not that bad.
