The loss of the company, which has been based in Hull since 1935, would put more pressure on the private sector and comes after food firm McCain announced a proposal to lose 50 jobs in the city.
Vitamins company Seven Seas has been criticised for breaking the links with the city that helped make its fortune.

Now, MPs are hoping to persuade bosses to reverse the decision in an attempt to save the jobs at a time when the city is struggling with unemployment levels.
They will use the meeting to get a detailed explanation and business plan from the company to support its decision to close the east Hull site.
