The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the region
It was predicted these showers had the potential to give local rainfall totals of 20 to 30mm in three hours or less, possibly in excess of 50mm in one or two places.
The Environment Agency had not this morning issued any flood warnings, however.
It follows warm temperatures and sunny weather enjoyed across the region over the weekend.

“"Peter Levy" makes a valid point. I decided to change my plans based on Hudson's forecast and was most annoyed when not a drop of rain fell. No big deal for me, but as you say multiply this up and it could hit the tourism industry hard in these already tough times.”

“the weather forecasters are usless, and peter levy it isn't just look north forcastrs, i go on the met office web site whch is supposed to be the most up to date, they forecaste rain for the last week, the first I saw was yesterday, and that ws only for half an hour the whole lot of them should be sacked, if the rest of us got everthing wrong everyday at work we would be sacked.
it is a good job that the forecasters where better in 1939-1945 because bomber cammand planned their bomming raides from the forecasts,if they had been usless then we would have lost the war, and they didn't have the equipment that they have now”

“The weather forecast on BBC Look North must be the worst forecaster on the box. The week-end before last Paul Hudson was predicting "very heavy downpours" all over the region for three days solid. We didnt get a drop.
His forecasts must cost the tourist industry a fortune, who would plan a day out on the coast after seeing his . forecasts? Then he just laughs it off as if its all a big joke! If he said there would be heavy downpours throughout the Wetwang scarcrows week-end and no-one turned up would the Mayor of wetwang be laughing then? He couldnt forecast christmas coming.”
