The REYTAs honour the brightest and best in this region's tourism industry and celebrate the enormous achievements of businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire. Tourism is a vital part of this area's economy, contributing over £615million annually. The REYTAs help to support the industry by raising awareness of the superb quality we have to offer visitors.
Andy Gray, tourism manager of Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, said: “The response to the REYTAs has been excellent across the whole region. This year’s awards are the most hotly contested and have been the most difficult to shortlist because of the really high quality exhibited.

“The only remark I have to make about the Remarkable Awards is how unremarkable most of the finalists are.”

“I'm not sure if it was the last REYTA's but I had just a cup a tea at one of the establishments that has been shortlisted for several awards and was asked when paying to complete a form. This form was a voting slip for the 'Best breakfast in East Yorkshire'. The cashier was getting everybody in the que to complete a form regardless of them having a breakfast or not. (it was 4pm on a Saturday afternoon).
I explained that it was a little unfair for me to fill the form in as I had not ever eaten a breakfast there. This was met with a curt reply and more pressure to fill the form which I declined for a second time. Needless to say I have never been back and if this how companies get shortlisted I dont hold the awards in high regard.
In regards to who it was, you will find them just outside of South Cave, sounds almost like an ITV period drama.”

“Lets see if I can make a comment on some of these businesses regarding voting - or are we not allowed to pass comments.
Highfield Farm, Southburn, Driffield - fine if you can get there through all the mud that their owner JSR farms leaves spread on the roads.
William's Farm Kitchen, Hornsea Freeport, Hornsea - excellent range of good priced food and a very nice Cafe/Restaurant, nice staff.
Drewton's, South Cave & Wolds Village, Bainton - both a bit po faced and not cheap for what you get, nice enough atmosphere at Bainton, Drewton is very surface wealth - all big flash cars and mortgaes. Still if you can afford to pay more for the same thing you can get elsewhere so be it.
The Spa, Bridlington - full of chavs, avoid.
Beverley Folk Festival/Beverlay Festival of Christmas 2012/Beverley Food Festival/Beverley Puppet Festival - enough said.
Remarkable Sustainable Award: St Stephen's, Hull ??? - I suppose if you stuck a wind turbine at one end you could generate a lot of Electricity.
Lets see how long free speech lasts?”
