Siemens boss praises Hull "dream team" at business dinner
HULL'S role in the renewables revolution will help create "a whole new industry" which will be closely watched by the entire world.
Matthew Chinn, Siemens head of energy (UK and North West Europe) has spoken for the first time in Hull about the company's plans for the city, which will see Alexandra Dock transformed into a facility for the construction of huge offshore wind turbines.
He said: "There are a lot of people working very hard on a very interesting and exciting project.
"We are not building a restaurant. We are actually creating an industry."

Mr Chinn paid tribute to those working behind the scenes to make Green Port Hull a reality.
"I have done a lot of projects in my time," he said.
"I have been with Siemens 25 years and I have never worked with a dream team like this one, with the support of politicians like Alan Johnson, Hull City Council and ABP.
"It is an exciting project but it it is extremely complicated and it will take time."
Mr Chinn was speaking at the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce dinner, which took place last night at the KC Stadium.

“To be fair Siemens have said that working with the Labour leadership and MPs has been part of their dream team. So credit where credits due. The only drag factors been this governments hatred of wind power. But these are turbines that will be out at see so where's the issue?”

“So long as the usual idiots keep their traps shut ( Diana Johnson, Prescott, Ingis etc) I reckon Hull stands a good chance of getting Siemens to come here. Hull and the Humber regions future is in renewable energy one way or another, Siemens know this an I can understand their caution investing in a area where the local council are so anti private sector.”

“Freespeech: LOLs Yes I had fathomed that out from previous articles and posts!!
Apologies, just a bit of sport with the north bank's equally devious, dimwitted, misguided, sad and desperate Liebourites. I swear you've seemingly been landed with more than your fair allocation on both banks of this backwater.
And what with that discreditable political bruiser Prescott at the helm of all these dinosaurs, wasters and losers; can there be there any wonder Hull and Humberside have been left in the slow lane all these years??!! ;-)”

“bigred1 - thats not what you said was libelous! Stop changing the subject. Besides check out http://tinyurl.com/1b22 and http://tinyurl.com/lqyl6v - these both point to Siemens being sued for using the slave labour to build the gas chambers! Theres loads more out there. Judging by the gibberish you have just written i would guess the education system has let you down more than it has either dontwo or myself!”

“siemens will know if they intend to operate from hull. i dont. it almost certainly will not be on the scale envisaged by the hysterical media. nothing new in that then. almost daily look north spews out diatribe about 100's of jobs in the pipeline along with 100's of millions of investment due. by now everyone in hull should have 2 jobs. god give us strength. come on siemens set up in hull we promise not to beat bayern munich in the euro cup final.... ever!!!! .”

“Thing that gets me is why we need Siemens at all, why doesnt the gov set up our own windfarm factory and keep all monies in this country. HCC do it with KWL why dont we do it with wind farms, we source all capital projects to foreign companies thats whats wrong with us.”
