A wind farm off the Hull coast has been given the go ahead, with 35 turbines to come from energy giant Siemens.
Dong Energy has confirmed it will build the 1bn euro offshore wind farm Westermost Rough, 8km off the Yorkshire Coast, east of Hull.
The decision gives a further boost to the £210m Siemens factory and is the first part of a 300-machine framework deal.

“Vision or what, make your own mind up. This is from 2010.
"Health and safety will be a top priority for the firms that are installing offshore wind farms. Marine safety specialist Cosalt, a small cap company whose shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange, is already taking advantage of this fact.
Cosalt, headquartered at Grimsby on the east coast of England, supplied safety equipment for the construction of Centrica's Lynn and Inner Dowsing wind farm during 2008 and 2009. The company plans to obtain further work supplying safety equipment to the offshore wind sector, and not just through its existing relationship with Centrica (with which it also worked in the utility's North Sea oil and gas fields). Cosalt has 15 branches around the UK, several of which are located at major ports.
"Given the geographical proximity between our European branch network and recent franchise awards for the offshore renewable energy sector, we are hopeful we can offer our existing services into this growing offshore activity," says David Ross, chairman of Cosalt."
Tell us you're still positioned for this with Cosalt Renewables please David.

“"CWE,Cosalt Wind Energy based in Grimsby has contracts with Siemans on nearby Windfarms, this could lead to 25 year maintenance, updating contracts, once Siemans has finished the building erection of Turbines. As Cosalt have funding problems, after building training premises, new office block, paying loan costs, perhaps the Humberside Local Enterprise Partnership scheme could provide a grant towards the 4 supply vessels needed for the progress of Cosalt. The company is the oldest business in the UK,1882,this surge in contracts on Cosalts doorstep should encourage the employment of thousands and bring some prosperity to the Humberside region. The windfarms will inter connect with(nuclear, coal, windfarm, generators) undersea power cables, from Ireland,to wales, over land to Manchester,on to Humberside, undersea to Aberdeen then over to Norway. The hydro electric power storage system will ensure the UK grid electricity. This will then link with France,Germany etc.Cosalt have offshore base at Aberdeen,Norway Stavanger,Newcastle, and Humberside, and with the HLEP will/can become the north east coasts biggest employer once again. With HLEP.imo"”

“UK competiveness has been falling since since 1900, from reading the article the investment here comes from the private sector & from overseas.”
