'Sleepless nights over high-risk offenders'
THE risks posed by dangerous offenders gives police and crime commissioner Matthew Grove sleepless nights, he said.
At yesterday's scrutiny committee in Beverley, he admitted the issue was the one which had troubled him most since being elected to the new role four months ago.
"It is the one thing I lose sleep over," he told councillors.
"There are a few hundred individuals out there who are absolutely high-risk offenders.

"They are rapists, child molesters and murderers and while none of them are allowed to go around completely free from the attention of the police and other organisations, they are still very high-risk.
"We have to make sure we get the right arrangements in place to protect the public from re-offenders because, if we don't, the consequences are truly hideous.
"Happily, I have to say the arrangements here between the police, the prisons and the probation service are outstanding."
