  2. Met Office snow warning

The Met Office says East Yorkshire may escape the worst of the weekend snow. The yellow shading shows areas where severe weather warning have been issued.

But while East Yorkshire is expected to escape the worst of the blizzard conditions, snow showers are forecast throughout the whole of Saturday, with the heaviest falls in the early hours.

Temperatures will hover around freezing but the wind chill will make it feel as cold as -6C.

Will Lang, Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, said: "While it is not unusual to see snow in March, the cold weather we have seen has been quite prolonged.

"The next period of wintry weather has some uncertainty at this stage regarding where the worst of the snow will be so it is essential to watch for updates to severe weather warnings.

"People should be prepared for further disruption as we head through the next few days."

“A couple of weeks ago the conspiracy theorist (who I find a constant source of entertainment) reckon the US is doing weather experiments, cloud seeding and the like. They predict the US will get hit by another snowstorm shortly and it's mucking up the gulf stream. I will wait with baited breath to see if Storm Q as they reckon it will be called, hits the US then us. :-)”

“The lily-livered, tree-hugging, green environmentalist climate change nutters are to blame for all this rubbish weather and massive heating bills, if we had continued pumping good old carbon into the atmosphere we would still be having mild winters like we had for at least 10 years before the last 3 which have been horrendous. Open up the prematurely closed coal mines, build more coal and gas power stations, lets get fracking for cheap gas and oil, ditch the electric cars (darn dangerous, can't hear the flipping things coming!), and also lets get nuking asap. We can never compete with industrial powerhouses like USA, India, China while they burn carbon fuels like crazy while the UK sticks to emission targets set by crackpots in the EU (by the way German have exemption to these limits and are building coal powered stations like crazy right now).”
