"Accumulations of snow will be very variable, with some places under the shower bands receiving 5-10 cm.
"Drifting of snow and temporary blizzard conditions may affect higher level routes. Winds will gust to around 50mph near the heavier showers, but higher over hills."
Temperatures are expected to hover around 0C, but the wind-chill factor will make it feel as cold as -6C.
Motorists are being warned to take care on untreated surfaces, where there will be an increased risk of ice.
