Spotlight on theatre funds
Hull Truck Theatre has launched a fundraising scheme offering members a full year of VIP nights out.
Spotlight is a new private membership scheme, which includes allocated tickets for the press nights of all the charity's productions.

It also includes the chance to have two seats in the main auditorium engraved with the members' names or message.
These personal seats would then be reserved for VIP press performances for the length of the membership.
Hull Truck moved from Spring Street to its new £15m home in Ferensway, in April. The building features a 440-seat main auditorium, 134-seat studio theatre, education space and two large foyers with bars.
Well-known local businessman Graham Boanas and his wife Janine have already signed up to Spotlight.
Mr Boanas said: "We are delighted to have joined the Spotlight scheme, which offers an excellent package of benefits.
"We are regular visitors to Hull Truck anyway, so having pre-booked tickets will make life much easier.
"It is great to know the money from the scheme will go towards developing the theatre's excellent work."
Annual membership costs £750, which includes two tickets for every Hull Truck production, with a four-ticket option also available for £1,250.
The tickets will be for the exclusive press nights, meaning you will get the first-look at the performance.
The cost also includes free pre-show and interval drinks, special discounts on food at the theatre and advanced notification of forthcoming shows.
Spotlight members also have a dedicated account manager to manage their bookings.
Development Coordinator Daniel Kelly said: "Audiences love coming to Truck but sometimes busy people can forget to book tickets until the show they want to see is over.
"This scheme makes life very easy by automatically booking tickets for a whole year in one go."

“Actually 'someone' from Hull, the new, and rather dull looking Hull Truck was built with £3.9m from the public purse, and it still is funded regualr from the public purse!!”

“How come we have to hear about Graham Boanas and his wife, Their both addicted to publicity, Yes granted he walked through the humber and raised money for charity, but we are contantly reminded about these two at every touch and turn”

“I have enjoyed some of their productions, but agree that this is all rather elitist. I also wonder if the effect will be similar to that seen elsewhere. You might well end up with empty , but unavailable seats.”

“Charles, Cott
Dont you realise it and st stevens were built from private funds, not from the public purse so it doesnt affect you at all? Have you ever been there and if not how can you say if its any good or not...? Productions in there are not crap - try them out, btw No I dont work for them, I've just been to see 1 show there and its better that what I thought.”

“Dean, hedon
It's an advert.
Hull Truck is a £15million con on the people of Hull. It should not get any more public money and it should die. It's demise would not be mourned by any rational person.
It has no artistic merit whatsoever and appears to be something thrown in at the last minute to justify the erection of the St Stephen's monstosity.
Still,at these prices, it shows the audience they are aiming for; rich and stupid. I hope they find the level they wish to sink to.
But then there is still the matter of the £15million subsidy perhaps these rich stupid oafs would care to pay that back? No? What a surprise ....”

“In Truro, Cornwall for the Hall for Cornwall, you could sponsor a brick for One Pound.
May be the Hull Truck Theatre should also rent the structure of the building as well to those wishing to view performances
there?”

“Goodness me, £750 a shot. If this doesn't prove the point that all Hull Truck is about is mounting productions which allow the monied middle classes to laugh and point at working class stereotypes, I don't know what will. Godber's attitude to the characters in his plays was summarised by one of the Sitwells - "My dear, the noise, the people!"”

“Fantastic, I can get my name on a seat for only £750 - a real bargain. It doesn't mean I have to go see their crappy productions does it.”
