“i think :Got to move with the times, so many old residential units just aren't up to the modern day standard demanded by CQC, Environmental Health, Councils allocating residents and most importantly to the customers themselves - they still have a choice in the matter."

“Dose everyone think 50 employee's mean just care staff? because if so your not counting all the staff. By 50 staff they mean: Mangier and Assistant mangier, Head cook and kitchen staff, Kitchen porters (kp's do the washing up serving) Seniors and care staff, laundry staff, cleaners, handy man , Gardner, Events organizer etc.. plus they can't work round the clock. I do believe they can cut some jobs without it affecting the standards but if they cut too many it will. When I was doing caring years ago the care staff did the cleaning, laundry, washing up and serving. I also believe who ever leaked this to the press should be totally ashamed of themselves as the residents found out by the reporters!”

“The facts are as stated and confirmed by today's HDM follow up. Need 80 residents but only have 36, subsidising wages with a £200,000 input to prop up the finances, residents and Council's choosing more modern units. No questions raised about standards of care and the staff. The building ain't a match for the modern alternatives.”

“Huge building, outdated, more staff than residents. The writing must've been on the wall for sometime. As for the new place around the corner....night and day compared to St Catherine's, modern, plush, well appointed, superior facilities. Got to move with the times, so many old residential units just aren't up to the modern day standard demanded by CQC, Environmental Health, Councils allocating residents and most importantly to the customers themselves - they still have a choice in the matter.”

“So why is a new care home opening round the corner, on the site of the old Blue Heaven? The new home looks like it will be privately run and not funded. Needless to say I don't think they will have 50 empolyee's looking after 36 residents.”
