Rather than colour just the ends of her hair, she has moved on the summer "dip-dye" effect by adding more definite pieces of colour to her hair and carrying them through to the mid-lengths.

This is a great look for her as it keeps her hair looking thick and healthy while maximising the natural shine.

With this look, it is essential she keeps her hair in great condition by applying an intensive treatment once a week. This will keep the outer layer of the hair (the cuticles) smooth and well moisturised and therefore able to reflect more light.

To recreate Kate's look at home, apply a volumising mousse at the crown and roots and blow dry your hair using a large round brush on the roots and mid-lengths to create volume and movement. Dry the ends more haphazardly, using your fingers instead of a brush to bring out any natural curl.

Once your hair is dry, take a section of hair and spray with a heat protection spray – I love Work It Girl Shine Protect and Control Spray.

From eye-level down (you don't want too much of a curl on the roots) wrap the section of hair spirally around a wide-barrelled tong and hold for a few seconds before unwinding. Immediately wind this section back towards the root area and hold in place with a clip. Do this through the rest of your hair and leave to cool completely.

This will make your style last much longer.

Once cooled, remove the clips and apply a mist of Work It Girl over your hair and on your hands.

Lightly run your fingers through your hair to loosen the waves and add definition. This is the kind of style that will drop easily, so when you are happy with the waves, stop touching them.
