Ahmed Elmohamady provides Hull City with a welcome boost as he returns to the side to face Millwall this afternoon following his deadline day move back from Sunderland.

The 25-year-old spent 16 days back with his parent club in January once his initial loan spell was cut short, but his second move to the KC Stadium should see him slot straight in at right wing-back.

Elmohamady was one of three new additions on Thursday but Egypt international team-mates Gedo and Ahmed Fathi, signed on loan from Al Ahly, will not be eligible.

The pair are due to meet up with City team-mates next week ahead of the trip to Brighton in seven days.

Manager Steve Bruce will make changes from the side beaten by Barnsley in the FA Cup last weekend, with Paul McShane a doubt with illness.

David Stockdale, who was cup-tied against the Tykes, will replace Eldin Jakupovic in goal, while Corry Evans comes back into the midfield equation after missing last weekend due to the birth of his first child. Bruce must decide whether to play Nick Proschwitz, Jay Simpson or both as he looks to pep up a flagging attack. Sone Aluko (Achilles) remains at least four weeks from a return.

Rob Hulse is hopeful of enjoying his full Millwall debut at the end of the week that saw the striker move from QPR.

Hulse came on as a substitute during Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Barnsley within hours of leaving Loftus Road but he would have to oust either John Marquis or Andy Keogh to land a place in the Lions’ attack.

Another piece of business from the final week of the window will enable Adam Smith to continue at right-back after parent club Tottenham sanctioned an extension until the end of the season.

Kenny Jackett may tweak his side for the visit of City with Shane Lowry coming in at left-back. That would enable Mark Beevers to be switched to centre-back alongside Danny Shittu.

Martyn Woolford could come in for Liam Feeney on the left. Winger Scott Malone will be added to the squad after recovering from a back injury, but on-loan Derby forward Nathan Tyson is still out with ankle ligament damage.

Chris Taylor (knee) and Paul Robinson (groin) also remain sidelined.

There will be a change on the bench after Jackett allowed striker Shaun Batt to join Leyton Orient on loan.
