“Honest , law-abiding people should take to the streets at night and claim them back from the drunken, drugged up scum that walk them ,people should feel safe to walk the streets at whatever time of the day without fear of being beaten up , raped or robbed !”

“@Maccy_george why shouldn't people walk on the streets at night. By not doing so doesnt it just embellish the belief that the streets are not safe? They should be......carry on walking about on the streets people of hull and dont bow down to crime!”

“Comments by ferretmonger and Maccy_george seem to take for granted that it is unsafe to walk home in the early hours. Why, if this is the situation, is it tolerated by the majority of people who don't attack others?
No one forces anybody to commit crimes.
The offenders choose deliberately to commit the offences: surely it must be easier to not commit crime?”

“There are 3 stories in the HDM today about people being attacked in the early hours of the morning, this one, the guy on Holderness Road & the girl on Myton Bridge.
All 3 have one thing in common - they were all walking home in the early hours.
Get a taxi for crying out loud, why put your life at risk?
O.k, if you haven't pre-booked one you may sometimes have a long wait but surely that's better than getting attacked & the risk of losing your life?”

“How nice that under the tories our society is getting safer and safer. Oh and crime is falling as well. So no need to worry folks because fewer police, less police stations open, and fewer prison places, means we are all a lot safer now!”
