Reports suggested the 71-year-old company director was the victim of a robbery at his villa on the holiday island.
His body was found in a pool of blood on Monday.
The son-in-law, who did not give his name, was speaking at the home of Peter and wife Patricia in Brandesburton.
He said: "We are all shocked, absolutely devastated. This is still raw. She [Patricia] is devastated. She's gone into town to sort out the banking.
"We know as much as you do. We have heard there may have been a break-in at Peter's apartment.
"We have also heard there may be some involvement with Eastern Europeans, we know there are lots of them about round there, but beyond that we know as much as you."

“As reported speech goes, that is the most insensitive and naiive example I've seen in a long time. The reporter is quoting not a detached press officer who's put together a statement, but a relative who's in shock and distraught and, presumably, caught on the hop by a phone call or knock on the door from the press ... they'll blurt out all kinds of irrelevant details and thoughts when put under such pressure, and it's plain irresponsible and thoughtless to quote the exact words in this way and turn them into statements that are loaded with insinuation. Shameful. How on earth do you think that man and his family are feeling about such quotes being reported?”

“Dominic is now going to feel the wrath of brigade of the ground which is morally high. But at least I didn't comment on a story someone had actually died on.”

“Dominic you waste of a shi**y skin, have some bloody respect. When a crime like this is commited usually its for money, so unfortunately the first thing that has to be done is to protect all the accounts from these callous thieves! so dont sink to their scummy level its not wanted here! What a shame this poor woman has to think about sorting these things out at such a sad time my thoughts are with the family.”

“I to am wondering if HDM have got that bit wrong about the banking as it totally detracts you from the horrible story & immediately makes you wanna snigger”
