TICKTON under-14s girls' football team have been knocked out of the  Plate after losing 3-0 to Hedon Rangers A.

Hedon’s Natalie Gray nearly opened the scoring, but Iona Mitchell’s shot just went wide.

The deadlock was broken by Hedon’s Jessica Lonsdale, who slid the ball into the back of the net.

In the second half both teams had chances before Hedon’s Gray scored after her shot rebounded off the bar into the goal

Georgia Stockhill had the chance to increase the lead further but Tickton’s keeper saved her shot well.

Shortly after, Hedon got their third and final goal, when Molly Ellerington hammered home.

In the under-12s competition, South Cave JFC are through to the semi-finals of the East Riding Cup after beating AFC Tickton 7-1.

Olivia Key gave the hosts the lead on eight minutes, when the in-form striker fired the ball in from a tight angle.

Key almost added a second goal moments later,  but her low shot was excellently turned away for a corner by Loralie Castle.

Castle came to the rescue again, saving Rebecca North’s effort.

Cave nearly went three-up, but Nina Kilby’s shot hit the bar.

Cave started strongly in the second half, and two goals in as many minutes seemed to knock the stuffing out of Tickton.

The first was a fantastic run from skipper Grunnill, in which she took on the whole of Tickton’s left side before scoring.

Holly Skinner’s turn and shot from a Nina Kilby throw made it 3-0 seconds later.

On 42 minutes Tickton reduced the deficit, as Fumagalli headed home Tuisawaus corner.

Any chance of a comeback was smashed in five minutes though as Amelia Lamb, Rebecca North and two Key goals, made the final score 7-1.
