Tigers fans ecstatic after historic win
Hull City fans were in dreamland today after the team
booked a place at Wembley for the first time.
Delirious Tigers supporters across the region now truly
believe the club can achieve its Premier dream and secure a
place in the top flight of English football for the first
time.
The destruction of Watford at the KC Stadium set up a
play-off final meeting with Bristol City at the home of
football on May 24 – and City fans are in no doubt their team
can go all the way.
Three pitch invasions in the dying minutes of the game last
night showed just how much it meant to the supporters.

Despite a shaky start, leading to Watford taking the lead,
Phil Brown's men roared back to hammer their opponents 4-1 in
front of a 23,155-strong crowd.
For fans like grandmother-of-six Marjorie Fleetwood, 88, the
glory days have been a long time coming.
After the final whistle, the season pass holder told the
Mail: “The players are fantastic – every single one of
them.
“People like me have been waiting for this moment for a very
long time. Now it has happened.”
Her son Barry Fleetwood, 56, and his wife Linda, 53, of
Beverley, were so sure of victory after the Tigers' 2-0 win in
the first leg at Vicarage Road, they booked a hotel ahead of
the showpiece Wembley final.
Mr Fleetwood, a public relations manager, said: “I have been
a fan for 42 years and a pass holder for 25 of those.
“We can't wait for Wembley. The hotel is already booked –
that was taken care after the first leg. It's fantastic.”
He said Brown can now justifiably be credited with building
the finest squad in the club's history.
Following the scenes of delight that greeted the final
whistle, Rob Barlow, 26, of east Hull, tried to take in the
enormity of what he had just witnessed.
The assistant manager of a city cafe bar said: “This is
beyond what I could ever have imagined.
“I put it down to passion. Every one of those players wanted
it. They earned that result.”
City chairman Paul Duffen said: “We have written a lot of
history this season.
“It was the first time we have beaten a Premier League side
when we beat Wigan in the Carling Cup.
“We have achieved our highest ever finish in the Tigers'
104-year history, we are in the play-offs and now we are going
to Wembley for the first time. It is a huge credit to the team,
managers assistants and background staff.”

“Dave, East Hull - maybe because City fans went on to celebrate rather then kick lumps out of each other or to rip the goal posts down.
Football is a family sport unlike the thugs & morons that foloow the minority "sport" ? of rugby league.”

“Well done city you deserve it, but why does the cynical side of me tell me that had that been Hull FC or HKR fans that had invaded the pitch they would have been in serious trouble. 1 rule for 1 and all that......So that's the gripe over and now lets hope the Tigers can do the stuff at Wembley!”
