The winners of the first Real Yorkshire Tourism Awards will each walk away with a unique work of art.

Twelve trophies have been hand-crafted by students at Hull School of Art and Design.

They will be handed out to the award winners at the glitzy ceremony at Lazaat hotel and restaurant in Cottingham tonight.

Tourist board Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) organised the awards in a bid to recognise the cream of the region's tourism industry.

The students who are studying for foundation degrees in 3D Design Crafts were asked to design the trophies by VHEY.

They were painstakingly made from pieces of coloured glass and delicate copper wire to depict the East Yorkshire landscape.

The Humber Bridge, the Yorkshire Wolds and Holy Trinity Church in Hull are among the landmarks featured in the artwork.

Studetn Sharon Cawston said: "It's really good to see our work being used for the awards.

"It will be great for my CV and it's great to have some recognition."

Tourism is worth £615m to Hull and the East Riding's economy each year.
