According to Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) - the body set up to boost the region’s tourism sector – the industry is worth more than £615m to Hull and the East Riding each year.
This is because visitors to the region, whether they come to Hull for an afternoon’s shopping or stay a fortnight in one of East Yorkshire’s plushest country hotels, bring with them money to spend with our local businesses.
But it’s not all about people from out of the region coming to visit - local people can do their bit too.
Many people don’t know the tourist attractions on their own doorstep, so instead of taking a break outside the region, spending weekends, school holidays and even annual leave exploring East Yorkshire will cut travel expenses and ensure your money continues to benefit your county.
