Rise in number of pupils permanently excluded from secondaries
The number of secondary school pupils being permanently excluded has risen, new figures show.
Forty-two pupils were excluded from Hull's secondary schools in the school year 2008-09 – up from 38 the year before.
The figures were released today by the Department for Education.
They also show there were 1,312 fixed-term exclusions handed out in 2008-09, compared to 1,232 the year before.
In the East Riding, 12 secondary school pupils were permanently excluded, and 3,319 fixed-term exclusions handed out.

Yet the East riding numbers have gone up.”
