“It appears to me the existing posters have their own problems in lacking both a sense of humour and apprecciation of a real talent. I saw Norman on several occasion and found not only hilarious, a great mimic, but full of inventiveness a imagination.

What is more he was never 'blue'. A modest man he was happy to sit and have a beer with his audience.

    Sleep well Norm, and thanks.”

“Most famous routines?..... Oh come on, those were the ONLY routines he had. He did well though to milk them for so long. The silly chicken thing and the microphone is all I remember about Norman Collier. That would be from the late seventies and I think he had a few spots on a tv programme called something like The wheeltappers. Like Mark_Hull_65 mentioned, this was an era when comedy was "different" but even back then I thought his act was just silly, not comical. Maybe it was just me who found him unfunny but I think its stretching things a bit for some to describe him as legendary.”

“So he was from Hull was he, that's right he must be because this rag is milking the (he's from Hull and the UK will miss him and found him so funny) well I think I saw him once on tv in the 80's and that's it, thought he'd died years ago. So come on Hull Daily Rag print some thing that we care about and not some guy who did the same act for years until he died because we don't care, as you can see from all the posts. YAWN”

“No disrespect to the gentleman and may he rest in peace with whichever god he believes in but lets be honest here... He was at his best 30 years ago and even then he was about as funny as a bag of potatoes.

The guy belonged to an era when 'My mother in law...", "My wife is so...", "Paddy walked in to a bar...", "They bombed our chippy", and "Two Pakistanis were..." was considered comedy worthy of prime-time saturday TV. It wasn't funny then and with the benefit of hindsight it's cringe-inducingly awful.”
