Vigilant lifeboat crew save yacht from jetty collision
E YORKS: The crew of the Humber Lifeboat prevented a yacht from crashing into a jetty.
A crewman at Spurn Point noticed the navigation lights of a 12m yacht close to the lifeboat station jetty.
He realised the yacht's pilot was disorientated.
The rest of the crew were alerted and watched from the shore until they realised help was needed.

The yacht was being pushed towards the jetty by a strong tide.
The crew ran down to it and shouted instructions to direct the sailing craft away from shallow waters and avoid a collision between its mast and the jetty.
With only metres to spare, second coxswain Pete Hanscombe helped the yacht to make its way into safe open water.
The RNLI boarding boat was then launched to help the yacht reach an emergency mooring buoy.
Mr Hanscombe said: "Without our crewman noticing the yacht this could have ended very differently."
The yacht was spotted on Wednesday at 9.57pm.
